Regional LandMuseum for History, Archaeology, and Everyday Culture

Embedded in an "oasis of calm" in the Weserbergland, the Historical Museum Hellental - as an attractive regional LandMuseum - with its three cultural-historical themes, is the central cultural location around the picturesque mountain village of Hellental, amidst a historically grown landscape of the gentle low mountain range Solling.

The pre-industrial worker village is an early example of state housing construction in the mid-18th century, associated with the expression of economic policy trade under Duke Carl I of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (reigned 1735-1780).

As a volunteer-run regional museum, the LandMuseum serves the regional cultural basic supply.

Following its guiding principles, the museum searches for, collects, remembers and preserves, researches, and conveys important cultural traces of past developments in the Old Valley of Glassmakers.

From the Middle Ages to the second half of the 18th century a resource-rich high-tech area for the production of forest glass, today Hellental is a biologically diverse meadow valley in the Solling-Vogler Nature Park in the Weserbergland.

Reminiscent of an open-air museum with walkable history, the cultural institution developed into a museum that is REALLY GOOD - indoors │ outdoors │ digital.

We see our LandMuseum as a place of culture and liberal democracy.

If you want to get to know Hellental and the unique open grassland valley more closely, it's best to start your discovery tour at the LandMuseum with a visit on-site or online at the museum portal.

We wish you a pleasant museum visit and an inspiring cultural-historical journey - analog and digital!
